Premature Labor After The Alpha Took My Hospital Bag Chapter 08

His grip was crushing. This was his last hope.

“Melinda, I was wrong. I truly didn’t know you’d go into early labor—I thought you were just lying to get my attention.”

“I’ll take you to the best hospital. We’ll get you healthy again. We can still have more—please don’t leave me.”

Listening to his pathetic begging, I drove my foot into his shoulder and sent him sprawling across the floor.

“Have more? Dennis, my uterus was severely damaged from the hemorrhaging. I will never be a mother again in this lifetime!”

Those words obliterated his final delusion. He sat motionless on the ground, staring blankly at his dust-covered hands.

Alina saw things going south and tried to slip away with the baby, but Shirley arrived with several guards and blocked her path.

“Going somewhere? Alina, the enforcement squad is already on their way. You won’t escape punishment!”

Alina’s legs gave out and she crumpled to the floor. The baby tumbled from her arms, screaming, and she didn’t spare it a single glance.

She crawled to Dennis, clutching his arm, making one last desperate gamble, voice shrill with terror.

“Dennis, save me—I was forced into it. Someone made me do this. You can’t just stand by and watch them punish me!”

Dennis slowly turned his head. He looked at the face he had once adored beyond measure, and the tenderness in his eyes curdled into murderous intent.

He seized Alina by the throat and slammed her onto the cold tile floor, veins bulging on the back of his hand.

“It was you—you lying bitch. You tricked me. You killed my pup. I’ll make you pay with your life!”

Alina’s eyes rolled back as she was choked. Her hands clawed desperately at Dennis’s grip, her nails scoring bloody tracks across his skin.

I watched them tear each other apart, feeling nothing—only the cold satisfaction of vengeance served.

“Dennis, who are you putting on this devoted act for now? You’re the one who chose to believe her.”

“For this woman and her mouthful of lies, you locked your nine-months-pregnant wife inside and left her to die. What right do you have to lose your mind here?”

My words struck like blades through his heart. Dennis’s grip tightened. Alina’s face was turning purple.

“Let go. Don’t dirty the hospital floor. The enforcement squad will be here any moment—neither of you is getting away.”

At the mention of the enforcement squad, Dennis released her in despair. Alina clutched her throat, coughing violently.

She sucked in air greedily, then fixed me with a venomous stare and erupted into unhinged laughter.

“Melinda, you think you’ve won? That useless brother of yours will never wake up even if you did save him.”

“You think his fall off that cliff was an accident? I hired someone to push him. He should have minded his own business!”

Those words crashed down on both Dennis and me. My blood froze solid.

Dennis stared at Alina in disbelief, his voice trembling, barely human, threaded with horror.

“What did you just say? You’re responsible for Melinda’s brother’s fall?”

Alina was past caring. She sneered up at Dennis, a vicious smirk twisting her lips.

“That’s right. I did it. He found out about my affair and was going to tell you. He deserved what he got!”

My fists clenched so tight my nails broke the skin of my palms—a sharp sting—and the last thread of my reason snapped.

I lunged forward, grabbed a fistful of Alina’s hair, and hauled her off the ground. My hand swung back and cracked across her face.

The sharp slap echoed down the corridor. Alina’s cheek swelled instantly, blood seeping from the corner of her mouth.

“You animal—my brother is eighteen years old! How could you do something so monstrous? I’ll kill you!”

I snatched a pair of scissors from a nearby medical cart and drove them straight at Alina’s eye.
