Reborn To Reject My Alpha And Watch His World Burn Chapter 03
“I can prove that hairpin was in Iris’s possession three days ago.”
Vivian walked over to Serena and took her hand.
“Don’t worry. You’ve protected Lucas’s reputation all these years. I won’t let anyone destroy you with lies.”
A loud buzzing filled my ears.
Only then did I truly understand how Nolan and Serena had carried on for five years right under my nose.
Vivian had known all along.
Everyone with access to the Alpha residence had known.
I was the only one kept in the dark.
My respect for Vivian, my love for Nolan, my sympathy for Serena—it was all a joke.
My legs nearly gave out.
When Nolan saw my stunned silence, the disgust in his eyes deepened.
“Iris, apologize to Serena. Then admit to Prince Cedric what you did.”
“Otherwise, I will apply to the Pack Council immediately to suspend your authority as Luna. And you can forget about returning to the Alpha residence.”
He knew I loved him.
In every argument we’d ever had, he used my position as his mate and Luna to force me to back down.
But Nolan, I had already died once for that love.
The same threat wouldn’t work a second time.
I looked at Vivian’s cold face, then at the smirk Serena was barely managing to hide.
Then I snatched the hairpin back from the Royal Guard.
Its metal point was long and sharp. I raised it high and drove it into my own side, just beneath my ribs.
Cries of alarm erupted around me.
Blood quickly soaked through my gown. My wolf tried to heal the wound, but because of the fragile new life hidden inside me, her response was sluggish.
I braced myself against the wall, refusing to fall.
“I won’t admit to it.”
“The person who entered that suite with Nolan was not me. I would rather demand a full royal investigation with my own blood than confess to something I didn’t do!”
At last, Prince Cedric frowned.
“Call the Royal Healer.”
But I forced out the rest of my words. “Your Highness, my son, Ethan, has a severe almond allergy. During the time of the incident, I was in the family lounge taking care of him. I never left.”
“You can ask him.”
My son with Nolan, Ethan, was only five years old, but he had already entered the junior program at the Royal Academy and was in Milo’s class.
The Royal Guard quickly brought him over.
The moment Ethan saw me covered in blood, his eyes went wide with fear.
“Mom, what happened to you?”
He rushed to my side and pressed his small hands over my wound, crying and begging me not to move.
I held his cold little hands.
Even if the whole world betrayed me, Ethan had seen with his own eyes that I was with him. He wouldn’t lie.
Prince Cedric briefly explained what had happened and asked, “Ethan, who was taking care of you in the family lounge just now?”
I looked at my son, clinging to one last thread of hope.
Ethan’s gaze flickered between me and Serena.
Then, in the next second, he violently shook off my hand and threw himself into Serena’s arms.
“Why is Mom framing Serena?”
“After I ate the almond cake, Serena was the one taking care of me the whole time. Mom wasn’t there at all.”
“Mom never liked her, and now she’s slandering her for sleeping with Dad. Are you really not going to stop until you get her killed?”
