Reborn To Reject My Regretful Mate For The King Chapter 21
I tightened my grip on my medical bag, turned north, and started back toward Gavin’s position.
Adrian didn’t try to stop me. He just followed close behind.
“I was just trying to survive!”
“Gavin is not a good man. He let us go that day, but his men caught Julian and me at the foot of the mountain.”
“They broke one of Julian’s legs. Are you really going to throw your life away for a man like that?”
Once we reached a stretch of woods with no other rebels in sight, I stopped.
I turned to face him, my hand slipping into my pocket and closing around the emergency beacon.
“Who told you Gavin was the one who ordered Julian’s leg broken?”
Adrian froze.
“It was you?”
His voice began to tremble.
“You were the one who drove me toward Southridge, who made it so Magnus’s people were the only ones I could turn to?”
I didn’t answer. I just pressed the button.
In the distance, I heard the immediate sound of Royal Guards responding to the signal.
At last, Adrian understood.
This was all a trap, one Gavin and I had set together.
He staggered toward me.
“Camille, how did it come to this?”
“We share the same blood. Why do you hate me so much?”
I took a tactical knife from the side pocket of my medical bag and closed the distance between us.
Then I drove the blade into his abdomen.
His wolf immediately started trying to heal the wound, but the blood loss brought him down fast.
“Because I had a dream.”
“In that dream, you watched rogues kidnap me and refused to tell the rescuers which way they’d gone.”
“And in this life, you sent me away to die for Evelyn.”
“I warned you not to show your face to me again.”
“You didn’t listen.”
