Reborn To Reject My Regretful Mate For The King Chapter 27

By the time we reached middle age, Gavin had gradually withdrawn from the Royal Council’s daily affairs.

Most of the time, I was the one who represented the Crown in dealing with the disputes and alliances among the packs.

Over the years, we had a son.

He completed his first full shift at fifteen and passed the succession assessment before the Royal Council and the assembled packs of the realm.

Gavin and I abdicated the throne together.

Our young prince inherited the crown under the Council’s guidance, and we left the capital behind, returning to the safe house in Northvale where we had first met.

The house had been rebuilt. The surveillance room became a study, and the underground medical room was converted into an ordinary storage space.

The sapphire tiara comb still sat on my dressing table.

On important days, I still wore it.

Gavin no longer needed a cane, and he no longer slept with every light in the house burning.

Sometimes, like any ordinary mate, he would stand behind me and help me with my hair.

He also learned to carve wooden hairpins.

The first one he made was crude and clumsy, but I kept it all the same.

Fate did not save me.

I climbed, step by step, from the dead end where my family had abandoned me to the highest peak of power and freedom.

In this life, I have no regrets.
