Regrets Of What Was Lost Chapter 11

I froze.

“Child support? Didn’t we agree on monthly payments?”

She leaned back in her chair, her tone calm.

“Credit history is important. Unfortunately, you no longer have any credit with me. If you remarry and start a new family, I don’t want to spend every month fighting you for five thousand dollars.”

“Chloe is five. She has seventeen years until she finishes college. Five thousand a month is sixty thousand a year. Over seventeen years, that’s 1.02 million. Add in inflation and rising tuition, and five hundred thousand is a bargain.”

Savannah shot to her feet and turned to me.

And suddenly, I understood.

This woman had been waiting for this moment all along.

“I don’t agree!”

Before I could say a word, Savannah had jumped up.

“This is unacceptable! Tucker, you already gave her two hundred thousand. Now you’re going to hand over another five hundred thousand? How are we supposed to live? Who’s paying the mortgage? Don’t even think about it!”

She snatched up her bag and stormed out.

The glass door banged open, the bell above it jangling sharply.

Zinnia folded her hands on the table and said evenly, “I knew this would happen the second child support came up.”

I glared at her, furious.

My mouth opened, but no words came out.

In the end, all I could do was turn and chase after Savannah.

The situation was very bad for me now.

If the terms weren’t settled by the time the divorce was finalized, things would get messy.

The house had already been transferred into Savannah’s name.

And the two hundred thousand in Zinnia’s hands was the portion she was legally entitled to from the sale.

As for the money still in my possession—if I dared touch it, she could claim I was improperly transferring marital assets.

And the three hundred thousand I’d used to help Savannah with the down payment—

That had no direct connection to Zinnia.

There was no way I could stand up in court and admit I’d secretly transferred money to my mistress so she could buy my ex-wife’s house.

Fuck.
