Revenge On My Feet Chapter 04
The next morning, at Bellini Capital.
Desmond and Renata got there early.
They stood in the lobby, still plotting exactly how they’d humiliate Nadia later.
The moment the HR manager walked in, Renata went up to her with a smile.
“Hello. A woman named Nadia Vance will be reporting for work later. She’s disabled.”
“Her boyfriend and I want to help her overcome her psychological issues.”
“Could you ask her to do a fitness test in front of everyone?”
“It doesn’t have to be too hard. Twenty or thirty push-ups would be fine.”
“Or you could have her hop up a few flights of stairs on one foot.”
When she’d finished, she glanced back at Desmond.
Desmond stepped forward, smiling too.
“Yes, we’re just trying to help her.”
“My father is a shareholder in the company. If you could make an exception for us, consider it a favor.”
The HR manager didn’t answer. She only looked at them and asked,
“You are Renata Lombardi and Desmond Bellini?”
“Yes,” Desmond confirmed.
The HR manager nodded.
“Good. Then I am formally notifying you that your offers of employment have been revoked. Please leave the premises immediately.”
Renata froze.
When Desmond finally registered what she’d said, his voice shot up.
“What did you say?”
“Our offers have been revoked? That’s impossible.”
The HR manager handed him a printed notice.
“After verification, it was determined that candidate Renata Lombardi concealed a disciplinary action for plagiarism during her university studies.”
“Her recommender, Desmond Bellini, participated in the concealment.”
“The company has decided to revoke both of your offers and update our internal background check records accordingly.”
“This borders on hiring fraud. However, management does not wish to involve the police, so you are only required to leave.”
“Also, the Nadia Vance you mentioned will not be reporting for work today.”
“As far as I know, she has accepted a position at Whitfield Union in New York.”
Desmond stared at the notice, his expression shifting from shock to fury.
