Revenge On My Feet Chapter 15
Yvonne walked me back to the lounge.
She shut the door, turned to face me, and asked,
“Do you want to leave now?”
“There are still reporters outside. I can cancel the rest of the interviews for you.”
I shook my head.
“No.”
“I led this project, and the press conference is part of my job.”
“She doesn’t get to post one video and chase me out of here.”
I opened my laptop and set about saving every page I could track down, one after another.
The dog-chasing video Renata had posted on Instagram was still up.
The school forum still carried my hospital photos.
From the night of the graduation ball, someone had filmed the big screen and the moment I killed the video.
I still had the email and attachments I’d sent to Bellini Capital’s compliance department.
Once, these things had brought me nothing but shame.
Now they were simply evidence.
After Renwick Group’s head of Legal went through it all, he said,
“The plagiarism and concealment have already been officially documented. Her current claim that you fabricated the report won’t hold up.”
“As for these photos and videos, did you consent to their public release at the time?”
“No.”
“The hospital video was only ever sent to Desmond.”
The head of Legal nodded.
“Understood. We’ll preserve the evidence. Whether or not to sue will be your decision.”
Yvonne looked at me.
“Nadia, you don’t have to force yourself to endure this just to prove you’re brave.”

Yvonne looked at me.
“Nadia, you don’t have to force yourself to endure this just to prove you’re brave.”
I knew exactly what she was afraid of.
Desmond and Renata had always told me to just get through it a few more times.
They said that if I was stared at enough, laughed at enough, the pain would finally stop.
But Yvonne was asking me what I wanted.
I closed my laptop.
“I’m not trying to prove anything to anyone.”
“I just want her to stop.”
I signed the attorney authorization forms.
When the interviews got underway, one reporter, as expected, brought up the video.
“Manager Vance, the person who posted the video claims to be your friend and says you gave her permission to share this content. How do you respond?”
I looked straight into the camera.
“I did not give permission.”
“Using someone’s medical images for entertainment is not help.”
“Humiliating someone because of their body is not friendship.”
“As for the rest, I’ll let my lawyer handle it.”
With that, I turned the conversation back to the project.
This time, there was no one who could reach over and switch off my microphone.
