She Framed Me As Unfit So I’ll See Her In Court Chapter 02
In my last life, I took out my phone, too.
Not to preserve evidence, but to pull up dusty photos of my liquor cabinet, crying and trying to prove that I never drank and Maya never touched things she shouldn’t.
Principal Hanley hadn’t even finished looking.
She had just handed me a CPS pamphlet and told me to “handle it.”
You don’t want to solve the problem, you just want it to go away.
I opened my email and typed in front of them.
The subject line read:
Request for Evidence Preservation Regarding the Maya Carter Incident
The body of the email demanded that the school immediately preserve the complete surveillance footage from all relevant areas that morning—including the hallway, the lockers, and the classroom entrance—for investigation purposes.
At the end, I cc’d my legal aid attorney.
Send.
In the silent office, Principal Hanley’s computer chimed with a new email alert.
Beth caught sight of the subject line on the screen, and her face went sheet-white. She instinctively took half a step back.
Principal Hanley jerked her head up.
“Ms. Carter, what exactly is this supposed to mean?”
I locked my phone and looked at her calmly.
“It means I believe this was a deliberate frame-up.”
“I’m requesting that the school preserve the evidence and wait for the police or my lawyer to retrieve it.”
Her lips parted. The forcefulness she’d had a moment ago was gone.
I glanced at her computer.
“Principal Hanley, you should have received the email. Please preserve it, as required by law.”
“Otherwise, my lawyer will consider it destruction of evidence.”
