She Stole My Fiancé So I Married The Prince Chapter 03
Three days later, just as promised, I put on that red gown and returned to the Westvale Pack for Isabella’s gala.
I had resewn every seam securely.
But the cheap, revealing dress still made me the perfect foil for her.
Inside the ballroom, several young women spotted me and burst into laughter.
They deliberately gathered around me, taking pictures with their phones.
“That’s really the Westvale Alpha’s biological daughter?”
“Parker blood or not, Isabella looks more like the true heiress than she does.”
“I heard Eastmere’s alliance has to be with the biological daughter now. Poor Adrian. Imagine waking up to that face and that taste level every day.”
They trampled all over me just to praise Isabella.
Isabella’s eyes gleamed with triumph, but her voice stayed gentle. “Camille, don’t take it to heart. They’re only joking.”
A few Alpha heirs lifted their wineglasses and teased Adrian, too.
“Your married life is going to be… interesting.”
“If Eastmere wants out of this alliance, there’s still time.”
I didn’t argue. I just raised my glass to them.
My calm only drew louder laughter.
A thunderous look crossed Adrian’s face.
He slammed his glass down on the table, and the pressure of his Alpha bloodline radiated through the room.
“Enough.”
“If I hear one more word, I’ll bar every one of you from Eastmere’s trade district.”
The crowd finally quieted.
He turned to me, his brows drawn tight.
“Look at yourself. Go change right now.”
Then he seemed to remember that I had dressed this way to make Isabella look better, and his expression stiffened.
He pulled a deep wine-red lipstick from his suit pocket and tossed it to me.
“Forget it. At least fix your makeup.”
“This shade suits you. It’ll make you look… less awful.”
I stared at the lipstick in my hand, stunned.
That was a shade I had only started using after marrying him in my previous life.
How did Adrian know that now?
The moment Isabella saw the look pass between us, the smile vanished from her face.
She snatched the lipstick away, smeared the color onto her fingertip, and rubbed it messily across my lips.
“Adrian’s right. This color really does suit Camille.”
Her teeth were clenched, her fingers digging into my skin as her other hand clawed at the side of my dress.
Unfortunately for her, I had already reinforced the stitching.
She couldn’t rip it.
Instead, in full view of everyone, she exposed her own malice.
My mother instinctively stepped in front of me.
“Isabella, what are you doing?”
But the second Isabella’s eyes reddened, every other word of reproach died in my mother’s throat.
She pulled out a tissue and carefully wiped the smears from my face.
“Camille, Isabella was just terrified of losing Adrian, so she acted on impulse.”
“And you—why did you have to accept something Adrian gave you?”
“Don’t blame her. I’ll make it up to you tomorrow, all right?”
She hesitated, as though making a great sacrifice.
“I bought a piece of land outside the capital. I was planning to build Isabella’s villa there after the wedding. I’ll give it to you instead. I’ll build you a house even bigger than the Alpha residence. How does that sound?”
It was the first time since I came home that my mother had ever spoken to me so gently.
My eyes burned. My fingers curled into tight fists.
But in the end, I only turned away from her.
Too late.
The gala was a tremendous success.
With me as a contrast, Isabella shone like the only star in the room.
The gold wolf-emblem brooch Queen Evelyn had given me was pinned to her chest. Guests who didn’t know the truth all assumed she had won the Queen’s favor, and the Eastmere Pack became even more determined to secure her as the bride.
Meanwhile, I became the capital’s newest joke.
I went to the restroom, changed back into my jeans and coat, and slipped quietly out of the Alpha residence through a staff corridor.
The royal convoy was waiting for me on the northern outskirts of the capital.
As I drove toward the rendezvous point, a black sports car suddenly swerved across the road in front of me, forcing me to slam on the brakes.
Adrian shoved open his door and strode to my window.
He hammered on the glass, his voice furious. “Camille, get out!”
“You don’t say a word, and now you think you can just run off? Where are you going?”
At that moment, a Westvale SUV raced up behind us.
Isabella got out, supporting my mother, tears already streaking her face.
“Camille, are you angry because Mom and Dad love me more and made you play the fool for me at the gala?”
“I’ll leave Westvale right now. Just come back, okay?”
My mother’s face was a mask of anger.
“No wonder you’ve been so obedient these past few days. You were just waiting for this.”
“You disappeared in the middle of Isabella’s gala on purpose. Do you want everyone to blame us?”
“Or do you need us to get on our knees and beg before you’ll come back?”
I had just unfastened my seatbelt when my father yanked the car door open.
Two Pack Guards grabbed my arms and dragged me out of the vehicle.
He moved too fast for anyone to react.
He kicked my leg out from under me, sending me sprawling onto the roadside.
“Talk! Who taught you these little mind games?”
“The more you compete for attention like this, the more disgusted we are with you.”
He ordered the Pack Guards to take me back to Westvale’s Council hearing room and suspend all my access permissions until I publicly admitted my fault.
Fighting the hot, deep ache of bone knitting itself back together under my skin, I pulled the royal transfer order and my Pack status transfer document from my inner pocket.
“Alpha Gerald, King Cedric has ordered me to accompany Prince Rowan to Northreach today.”
“And I have already formally withdrawn from the Westvale Pack.”
I held the document bearing the royal seal up to his face.
“You’re detaining a member of the royal staff. Are you planning to defy a direct command from the Alpha King?”
