The Annoying Sleepwalker Chapter 14

The Annoying Sleepwalker Chapter 14

“I haven’t had time to go yet.”

“And your parents?”

“They’re busy with work.”

Ms. Albright’s expression darkened.

“Blair, this isn’t a problem that gets resolved just because you say, ‘I might be sick.’”

“You have now damaged your roommates’ property on two consecutive nights.”

“The monetary value is high, and it has already caused a disturbance online.”

“The student life office has to get involved.”

Blair panicked instantly.

“If I get a disciplinary action, it’ll affect my law school applications and my internships!”

Mallory couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

“Funny how you weren’t thinking about that when you were smashing people’s things.”

Tessa said quietly, “We need internships, too.”

I sat off to the side, silent.

Suddenly, Blair turned to me.

“Brigid, if you delete that post from Yik Yak, I can pay you back slowly.”

I asked, “How slowly?”

She bit down on the words.

“Two hundred a month.”

I laughed.

“My laptop repair is fifteen hundred. Data recovery is over eight hundred.”

“Tessa’s iPad is over twelve hundred.”

“Mallory’s headphones and mirror are over eight hundred.”

“The school camera repair is twelve hundred.”

“At two hundred a month, are you planning to pay us back after graduation?”

Blair started crying again.

“I don’t have any money. Are you all trying to kill me?”

There it was again.

That same line, every single time.

Ms. Albright tapped the desk.

“No one is trying to kill you.”

“We’re talking about compensation and safety.”

Genevieve slid a sheet of paper across the table.

“This is the current total of the damages.”

“Five thousand, five hundred and sixty dollars.”

“If there are additional data recovery costs for the laptop, those will be added later.”

The second Blair heard the number, she froze.

“Five thousand? Are you trying to rob me?”

Mallory laughed in her face.
