The Betrayed Mafia Wife Takes Bloody Revenge Chapter 08
Take It All Back
Vivian received the first demand letter three days after Rafe’s funeral.
There was no public memorial.
His friends complained.
I didn’t care.
I chose a small private service.
No speeches.
No videos.
No stories about what a wonderful husband he had been.
He was cremated before half the Cole circle realized the date.
I did not keep the ashes.
Thomas asked once if I was sure.
“Yes.”
That was all.
By the end of the week, we had frozen two disputed accounts linked to Vivian.
Her car had been purchased through one of Rafe’s companies.
The lease was terminated.
The apartment had been partially funded with marital money.
We filed suit.
The jewelry came next.
Vivian called me screaming.
“You’re insane!”
I moved the phone away from my ear.
“That car was a gift!”
“It was bought by Cole Holdings.”
“He gave it to me!”
“He wasn’t the sole owner of the funds.”
“You inherited millions!”
Her voice cracked.
“Why do you care?”
I looked around the penthouse.
The same penthouse where Rafe once told me I was lucky he kept me.
“It’s not about whether I need the money.”
“Then what is it about?”
I smiled.
“You.”
Silence.
Then:
“You vindictive bitch.”
I almost laughed.
“I thought I was a parasite.”
She hung up.
That afternoon, Thomas came to my office.
My office.
Rafe’s old desk was still there.
I had moved it to the other side of the room.
“Vivian’s attorney wants to negotiate.”
“No.”
“Elena.”
“No.”
“She doesn’t have the liquidity to return everything.”
“That sounds like her problem.”
Thomas watched me for a moment.
Then nodded.
“There’s something else.”
He placed another report in front of me.
Vivian hadn’t been the only one.
There were four women.
A hostess.
A consultant.
The wife of one of Rafe’s friends.
And Vivian.
I stared at the names.
For some reason, that hurt less.
Vivian had believed she was special.
Rafe had made me feel small to make her feel chosen.
Then made her feel chosen to make himself feel powerful.
He had been feeding all of us different lies.
Vivian came to the penthouse that night.
Security called before letting her upstairs.
“Send her in.”
She looked terrible.
No makeup.
Hair unwashed.
A cheap T-shirt instead of the designer dresses Rafe bought her.
She held her phone too carefully.
Recording.
I noticed immediately.
“Elena.”
Her voice shook.
“Rafe is dead.”
“Are you happy now?”
I looked at her.
“No.”
“You killed him.”
“I wasn’t holding the knife.”
“You brought Mason there.”
“I told your husband where you were.”
“You knew!”
Her hand tightened around the phone.
“You wanted this.”
I stepped closer.
“You booked the hotel room.”
“You slept with my husband.”
“You lied to Mason.”
“And somehow I killed Rafe?”
Vivian’s face twisted.
“You’re evil.”
I reached out.
She flinched.
I took her wrist.
Turned her phone slightly.
The red recording symbol glowed on the screen.
Her face went white.
I lowered my voice.
“You should be careful with recordings.”
“You never know what you’ll confess while trying to trap someone else.”
She yanked her hand away.
I smiled.
“And Vivian?”
“What?”
“The apartment?”
“Mine.”
“The car?”
“Mine.”
“The diamonds?”
“Mine.”
I leaned closer.
“And Rafe?”
Her eyes filled with tears.
“He was never yours either.”
