The Day I Went Silent Chapter 25
The moment “Mom” left her mouth, Julian’s expression darkened sharply.
Olivia let out an awkward laugh, hurriedly stood up, and slipped her hand into Levi’s.
The sharp menace in his gaze faded slightly. He let out a low cold huff, yet wrapped his hand firmly around hers.
Palms overlapped, sharing their warmth.
“I’m your boyfriend. Why didn’t you tell me when something happened?”
He scolded Olivia, “Isn’t it just the Vance family withdrawing their investment, causing a cash flow problem?
Did you forget what I do for a living?”
“The last thing I lack is money.”
Olivia clicked her tongue.
She really hadn’t thought of it at the time, but she didn’t doubt his words, and neither did Julian.
Levi himself was an unstoppable financial powerhouse.
Olivia’s heart settled. No longer wanting to pay attention to Julian, she happily prepared to go home with her boyfriend.
Halfway there, Julian’s voice rang out from behind them.
Knowing he had lost the last thing he could use to threaten Olivia, Julian’s voice trembled with despair.
“Olivia, there’s no chance for us anymore, is there?”
Olivia paused, not looking back.
“That chance has been gone for a long time.”
Over the next few days, Olivia spent all her time with Levi and Meilani.
Both the adult and the child were incredibly clingy; whenever she couldn’t take it and wanted some air, they would look at her with the exact same resentful eyes.
As if she had done something terribly wrong.
Olivia always admitted defeat under such gazes, throwing her hands up in surrender.
Fortunately, Levi was also busy, and was called away by a phone call one evening.
Olivia shoved Meilani over to Eleanor and ran out to shop for clothes, breathing in the fresh air.
It was a weekday, so the mall wasn’t crowded. Olivia shopped to her heart’s content, carrying bags of all sizes while texting her best friend.
“Levi, well, he is really handsome and treats me very well, but he’s just too clingy… I finally got some space to myself.”
“Not that spending time with him is bad, of course…”
As she chatted away, a figure suddenly appeared before her eyes.
Olivia almost couldn’t recognize the woman in front of her.
Her hair was a mess, her face was covered in bloody scratches, and her expression was one of frantic despair.
The once proud, unbridled, and radiant Chloe had somehow turned into this state.
Olivia froze for a second, then quickly reacted and turned to run.
But she still wasn’t fast enough to outrun Chloe.
Chloe laughed wildly, her voice full of a desperate, all-or-nothing madness: “It’s all because of you, Olivia.
You ruined me.
Even if I die, I’m taking you down with me.”
She lunged forward, the dagger in her hand glinting with a cold light.
Unable to dodge in time, Olivia was tackled to the ground.
She instinctively squeezed her eyes shut, a flurry of chaotic thoughts flashing through her mind.
Come to think of it, she was terrified of pain.
She never expected to die such a painful death…
But after a long moment, she felt no pain.
Olivia opened her eyes in confusion, only to find a familiar figure shielding her, a dagger plunged into his side, blood gushing out.
It was Julian.
Enduring the agonizing pain, he shoved Chloe to the ground.
The surrounding bystanders finally reacted, rushing over to help pin her down.
Julian exhaled weakly and slumped down onto the ground.
“Julian.”
Olivia’s eyes widened as she frantically scrambled to call for an ambulance.
“Don’t fall asleep… don’t fall asleep, do you hear me.”
Julian mustered every ounce of his strength to give her a weak smile: “Olivia… I’m sorry.”
With that, he closed his eyes and slipped into an endless darkness.
