The Diary Of An Unloved Wife Chapter 05

The air fell completely silent in an instant.

Everyone froze. All that was left was the cold, dry wind of the cemetery howling against our faces, bringing a stinging pain.

Beckett jerked his head up.

He caught the settlement agreement I had thrown at him, his breathing completely stopped.

“Iris, stop making a scene.”

His voice was hoarse when he spoke, hiding intense emotions.

But I didn’t hear it.

Only a sense of absurdity and disgust rose within me.

Making a scene?

I wasn’t making a scene. Not this time.

“Sign it,” I paused. Facing him only made me feel exhausted. I no longer felt the fluttering in my chest from the past. “Stop dragging this out.”

Harlow’s eyes instantly lit up next to him.

She was just about to lean in and say something when she saw his tightened jaw, and she swallowed her words back down.

She bit her lip tightly, filled with jealousy and hatred.

And Beckett.

After hearing my words, he ripped the settlement agreement straight in half.

When he looked up, his gaze was complicated and carried an inexplicable sense of evasion.

“You’re not calm right now, Iris. We’ll talk about this later. I’m giving you a chance to change your mind.”

After saying that, he turned and walked away, not even bothering with Harlow.

While I stood there, watching his retreating back as if he were fleeing, and I let out a sarcastic laugh.

I didn’t linger.

I went straight to the airport.

It didn’t matter if he signed it or not. This was a no-fault divorce. If he didn’t agree, the court would hold a hearing and issue a ruling. All he could delay was time; he couldn’t delay the judge’s pen from finally coming down.

He and I simply couldn’t go on anymore.

The moment the plane lifted off, I deactivated my number, turned off iMessage, and cut off contact with everyone.

Meanwhile, supported by Maggie, Harlow stumbled after the man, her eyes red.

“Beckett, wait for me!”

The man who had been charging forward finally stopped.
