The Don’s Faceless Bride Chapter 04

The Don’s Faceless Bride Chapter 04

I couldn’t listen anymore. I ended the call.

Luca saw me crying and clumsily wiped my tears away.

“Don’t cry. The bride’s makeup won’t look good if it’s smudged.”

I sniffled.

“You’re right. We still have a wedding to get to.”

As we passed the banquet hall next to ours, I suddenly stopped.

On the stage, two elderly people were moved to tears, holding the hands of the bride and groom together.

I couldn’t make out any of the faces inside—but I knew, without a doubt, that the groom on that stage was Marco.

Luca followed my gaze and swore in anger.

“If Marco didn’t want to marry you, he should’ve just told you straight.”

“Instead, he set up a bunch of fake grooms for you, then came here to marry another woman?”

I laughed bitterly.

“Who knows. Maybe they were just trying to mess with me again.”

“Come on. Your parents must be waiting.”

When we arrived at the wedding venue, Luca’s mother rushed over.

“I called all our relatives here.”

“If this wedding doesn’t happen today, I swear I’ll skin you alive!”

Luca grinned and pulled me to his side.

“Why would I lie to you? I brought your daughter-in-law, didn’t I?”

She beamed when she saw me—then noticed my bare ring finger and discreetly slipped a ring box into his hand.

“I knew you’d forget something important. Good thing I brought this.”

She took my hand and said “wonderful” twice.

Then she asked my name.

“My name is Ava.”

“I’m sorry today’s wedding was so rushed. I didn’t have time to notify you both in advance.”

She waved her hand dismissively.

“That useless Luca is the one who shortchanged you. I’ll deal with him later!”

The officiant announced the start of the ceremony.

My “parents” walked me down the aisle, one on each side. They wore the exact same clothes my real parents had on when they left the house that morning, and their voices were nearly identical.

But the unfamiliar scent on them reminded me constantly: these parents were actors.

My real parents were next door, at Marco and Isabella’s wedding.

All my friends and relatives were next door too, toasting their new marriage.

No one noticed my parents were fakes. No one knew I’d already swapped my groom.

When the officiant called for the exchange of rings, Luca carefully took my hand and slipped the ring onto my finger.

“The ring’s a standard women’s size—my mom had it made in advance. It might be a tiny bit loose.”

“After the wedding, I’ll take you to get one that fits perfectly.”

I hummed in acknowledgment—neither refusing nor agreeing.

But just as the officiant announced, “You may now kiss the bride,” someone pushed open the heavy doors and slipped inside.

Luca paused mid-motion and instinctively pulled me behind him, speaking softly.

“It’s Marco.”

Marco had seen Luca about to kiss me.

He lost his composure and rushed over to pull Luca away.

“I told you to pretend to be the groom—who said you could touch her!”

When he got a good look at Luca’s face, he stumbled backward.

“Who the hell are you?”

I squeezed Luca’s hand tighter, my voice puzzled.

“Why are you interrupting my wedding? Is something wrong?”

Marco was stung by my unfamiliar tone. He grabbed my shoulders and yelled.

“Ava, I’m Marco.”

“I’m the real groom today.”

My expression didn’t change. I met his gaze calmly.

“I know you’re Marco.”

“Let me introduce you. This is my husband, Luca.”
