The Don’s Faceless Bride Chapter 10

After that, he never bothered me again.

But on the day Isabella was discharged, she sent me an apology.

“I’m sorry. My selfishness ruined your wedding.”

“But Marco is really innocent. I was the one who begged him endlessly.”

“I’m begging you—forgive him. Give him a chance to make it right.”

I didn’t reply. I just remembered the three of us together—how I was always the one being teased, forgotten, left behind.

Maybe I should have realized a long time ago: I had never been Marco’s first priority.

“I won’t fall into the same trap twice.”

I won’t give anyone who’s hurt me a second chance to do it again.

Besides, I never thought Marco was innocent. Even if Isabella had begged him, if he’d said no, none of it would have happened.

Perhaps out of guilt, Isabella deleted me from her contacts.

A month later, my father sprained his ankle and was hospitalized.

My mother borrowed several relatives’ phones to finally reach me.

“Hospitalized? I’ll hire a caregiver.”

My mother hesitated, sounding awkward.

“Your father wants to see his daughter. He misses you.”

My face went cold.

“I’m busy with work.”

“And your daughter is Isabella.”

My mother was stunned and muttered quietly.

“Isabella’s real mother—the one who left her early—got successful and came back from abroad to take her away.”

I understood, and threw the insult back.

“So your daughter’s real mother came back and didn’t want you anymore.”

“Why are you so vengeful?”

I shot back without mercy.

“Why wouldn’t I be? You gave me something to remember.”

She had no comeback and hung up in a fluster.

When I turned around, I saw Luca’s mom had come out with fruit at some point and was standing behind me. I instinctively gripped my phone.

“Do you think I’m cold-hearted?”

She smiled and asked,

“You’re still hiring a caregiver for them, aren’t you?”

“Love goes both ways. If they treat you well, you’ll naturally take care of them.”

“But if they don’t—shouldn’t you protect yourself?”

I relaxed and let out a laugh. She sat me down and continued.

“I also know you and Luca got married on the fly.”

“But I didn’t stop you two. Do you know why?”

I shook my head.

“Because he likes you.”

“I’ve always believed—real feelings can be seen.”

Just then, the front door opened.

Luca was home, carrying bags and bags of stuff—milk tea, barbecue, little desserts—and spread them all out on the coffee table.

“Look, every single thing you said you wanted to eat last night.”

I burst out laughing.

“I was talking in my sleep!”

Luca’s mom covered her mouth and giggled on the side.

He hung his head, looking helpless.

I stopped teasing him and reached out.

“Though I do kind of want all of it right now.”

At least after everything, I wouldn’t chase some dream of “forever” anymore.

Live for today. Cherish the people in front of you.

That’s enough.
