The Fourth Life She Guarded Me Chapter 38
After we returned to the family territory, I barely had time to catch my breath before the family leader arrived with a crowd and surrounded us.
Lani was there, too.
Her father stood at the front, his face grim.
I had no idea what they wanted, so I didn’t dare move.
Paloma hated it when people directed hostility at her.
Her expression darkened at once.
I quickly caught hold of her.
“Paloma, you can’t touch them without my permission.”
Paloma looked down at me and arched a brow.
“Sure.”
Her tone was light, teasing.
“…Master.”
My face went hot.
Lani ran out from the crowd. The moment she saw me, her eyes widened.
“You’re still alive?”
I raised a brow.
What an interesting thing to say.
“Shouldn’t I be? I came back from the Threshold, and instead of asking how I am, your first words are disappointment that I didn’t die. That’s not a very good look.”
The family leader spoke, his voice cold.
“Since you didn’t die, then those things should still be on you. Hand them over.”
