The Heiress’s Revenge Chapter 16
Greyson’s face went white. He started to speak. Grandfather raised a hand.
“Everyone.” His voice was calm. “Forgive this Wentworth family matter. My granddaughter’s groom is—”
Cole pulled the certificate from his pocket. “Cole Jones.”
Grandfather nodded. “Cole Jones. Thank you all for coming.”
The guests blinked back to reality.
Then Grandfather looked at me. “The inheritance documents. Signed. As of today, you control the Wentworth Group.”
Greyson stared at me. “Thea…” But he was already being escorted out. Jasper and Dax followed. Every face uglier than the last.
Kieran tried to take Skylar with him. She wrenched away. “What are you? Some appraiser. You think you can touch me?” Kieran’s hand froze in the air.
Skylar didn’t even look at him. Stumbled after Greyson. “Greyson. Weren’t you here to marry me? Why are you leaving…”
Boston’s elite circles reshuffled the week I took over Wentworth Group.
I cut core partnerships with Jasper’s family first. Raw material supply halted. Projects stalled. Jasper’s father dragged him to beg for an audience overnight. They never even saw my face.
The so-called iron triangle—Jasper, Dax, me—had been cracking long before I returned to Wentworth.
That private school my adoptive parents dumped me into. Those first years were hell.
My accent. My clothes. How I held a pen. Everything was a joke to those rich kids.
Jasper and Dax watched coldly at first.
Later, after I’d been bullied enough, they decided I was “tough.” Somehow I became their designated scapegoat. They caused trouble. I confessed.
The worst time, they burned down the chemistry lab. Facing expulsion.
I stepped forward. Took the blame. My adoptive mother beat me with a belt. Made me kneel all night.
After that, they truly accepted me.
