Edward looked at him. He walked straight to the desk and dropped the equity transfer documents and the handover checklist onto it.
“Mr. Andrew Shaw. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Catherine’s brother. Edward Blackwood.”
“This hedge fund was originally something my little sister set up as a hobby. Play money from her trust fund. The Blackwood family is here to reclaim its assets.”
The words “Blackwood family” landed like a lightning strike. Andrew’s entire body locked up.
He’d always known Catherine came from a comfortable background. Upper East Side. But she never flaunted it. Never made it a thing.
It had never crossed his mind. The family that controlled Blackwood Industries. *That* family.
His brain went white. Blank static.
Before he could process it, Edward had already turned toward Emily.
“So you’re Emily.” The disgust in Edward’s voice was naked and undisguised. “You’re fired. Also, regarding that $300 million deal, I’ve spoken to Mr. Chandler personally. Explained the facts.”
“My legal team will make sure the full record—impersonating the lead, poaching a client, nearly triggering a breach of contract—appears on your FINRA industry file. Permanently.”
Emily’s face drained of every drop of color. The coffee cup slipped from her hand and shattered on the floor.
She understood. If the Blackwood family put this on her record, her Wall Street career was over. No compliant fund would ever touch her again.
She looked at Andrew, panic twisting her face. “Andrew, help me! I only crossed Catherine because of you!”
But Andrew couldn’t spare her a thought.
Edward snapped his fingers. The lawyers behind him stepped forward. They laid out the postnuptial agreement. The stack of incriminating photos. A divorce complaint stamped with an official seal.
All of it. Neatly arranged in front of Andrew.
The moment his eyes landed on that agreement, his pupils contracted. It was like all the blood in his body had been siphoned out.
