The Prince Let Me Die Now He Begs For My Love Chapter 03

I’d never imagined Prince Adrian was my pen pal, either.

He was first in line to the throne, always dressed in impeccably tailored suits, his expression controlled, his presence so cold that no one dared approach him.

Once, in the meeting wing of Royal Castle, I happened to see him dressing down a negligent security officer.

He never raised his voice, but his questions were so sharp the officer’s face went pale.

I turned on my heel and walked away as fast as I could.

But at the mate-selection banquet, he spoke with utter seriousness.

“Evelyn and I have been corresponding anonymously for three years.”

“We love each other. I ask for your permission to marry her.”

At that moment, my mind went completely blank.

Evelyn froze, too. She opened her mouth several times but ultimately said nothing.

In my past life, Queen Helena had denied their request.

She insisted Adrian marry me, using the marriage to lock down Cedarbrook Pack’s Council vote and support for riverway security.

After our wedding, Adrian was distant, but he never embarrassed me in public.

He gave me the respect due the Crown Prince’s wife—and with it, separate rooms, staff, and security clearance.

Only at night did he sometimes show the gentleness from the letters.

Gradually, I began to hope.

I thought if I could just explain everything clearly, it could all be set right.

At last, one day, I worked up the courage to return to my parents’ residence in the capital and retrieved the old letters I’d kept.

I wanted to tell him the truth.

But Evelyn reached the Crown Prince’s castle wing before I did.

In tears, she knelt before Adrian.

“Since we couldn’t be together, these letters are all I have left of our memories.”

“But Vivian took them all. Please, convince her to return the letters that belong to me.”

The papers in her hands scattered across the floor.

When I reached the doorway, I was met with Adrian’s cold, cutting gaze.
