The Principessa’s Mafia Trial: From A Stripped Bride To A Crimson Queen Chapter 06

Double Drowning

Cain moved before I could.

He threw himself in front of me and took the first blast square in the back.

The force knocked him forward a step, but he didn’t go down. He braced his feet, locked his arms around me, and held.

The wine hit like a wall. Thick, sticky, relentless.

It poured over Cain’s shoulders and down his back. It splashed off his body onto mine.

The coat he’d wrapped around me was soaked through in seconds.

But he didn’t let go.

“Hold on to me,” he said, his voice tight against the roar.

I grabbed the front of his shirt. The liquid hammered us from every direction. It filled my ears. It burned my eyes.

Cain’s body shook with each blast, but he kept me shielded, taking every hit.

Through the red haze, I heard Lucia laughing.

“Dom, look at them! They look pathetic!”

Dominic’s voice boomed over the spray. “Savino! Still feeling heroic?”

Cain said nothing. He just held tighter.

The nozzles shifted angle. Two jets hit Cain in the legs. He buckled, and we both stumbled sideways.

I slipped on the wet stone and nearly went down, but Cain caught me, one arm hooked under mine, and hauled me back up.

“I’ve got you,” he said. “Stay up.”

Lucia walked closer, staying just outside the spray zone.

She tilted her head and watched us struggle.

She touched the Cavallo Heart at her throat.

“Cain, honey, look at your precious Vivian.” She pouted. “Soaked. Shaking. Clinging to you like a wet dog. Is this the great Cavallo princess? Because I don’t see a princess. I see a beggar.”

Cain still didn’t look at her.

That made Lucia’s smile twitch.

Dominic stepped forward, arms spread wide.

“Alright, Savino. Here’s the deal.” He pointed at the ground. “You and Vivian both kneel down and apologize to Lucia. Right now.”

“For what?” Cain’s voice was steady despite the wine still pouring down his back.

“For disrespecting my family in my home.” Dominic cracked his neck. “This is Vegas. My family makes the rules here. You walk in uninvited, you pay the price.”

“I’m not kneeling to anyone in this courtyard.”

“Then you’re not leaving.”

Dominic nodded at his soldiers.

Four men grabbed Cain from behind and forced him down to one knee. Two more pinned his arms.

Cain fought hard, but eight hands held him.

Dominic crouched down in front of him.

“See? Not so hard.” He patted Cain’s cheek. “Now say sorry to Lucia, and maybe I’ll let you crawl out of here with your clothes still on.”

Cain looked up at him.

Calm. Quiet. Not a trace of fear.

“You just made the worst mistake of your life, Falcone.”

Dominic laughed. “Yeah? And what are you gonna do about it? You’re on your knees in my house.”

“Vivian,” Cain said, cutting him off. “The phone. Use it. Now.”
