The Third Time My Alpha Accused Me Of Cheating I Left Chapter 07

Grayson’s POV

I had no idea when my son had become this way.

The car pulled up to the pack hospital. Doctors quickly wheeled Asher into the emergency room.

I leaned against the corridor wall, fingers still trembling.

I pulled out my phone and stared at the message already sent on the screen.

[Your son has a fever. He keeps calling for you.]

Still no reply. I stared at it for a long time—then the realization hit me: if even Asher’s fever couldn’t bring her back…

Then what could?

The corridor was deathly quiet.

I closed my eyes.

But all I could see was Esme—crying, begging me.

The first affair…

The second affair…

And when Linda’s incident happened…

“Alpha!”

Hurried footsteps. I opened my eyes. Naomi was rushing toward me, her face tight with concern.

“Alpha, how’s Asher?!”

I looked at her face.

I didn’t know why, but it suddenly felt unfamiliar.

Naomi’s father had been my father’s Beta. She’d grown up in the Vale household.

All these years, I’d believed she was loyal to her core. Believed everything she did was for the Vale family.

But the things Asher had mumbled in his delirium—they were driving into my skull like needles, one after another.

“What have you been teaching that boy?”

My voice was so cold it startled even me.

Naomi froze.

“What?”

“I’m asking you—what have you been teaching Asher?”

I straightened to my full height, staring down at her.

“‘Old hag burning money.’ ‘Pull the tube.’ ‘Bad woman’—”

“Were those your words?”

The color drained from Naomi’s face instantly.

Her lips quivered. “Alpha, I didn’t… I was only approaching it rationally—”

“Rationally?”

I laughed. A sudden, humorless laugh. “He’s not even five years old. You’re teaching him what ‘rational’ means? Spitting in his own mother’s face—that’s your idea of rational?”

“Alpha, let me explain—”

“Get out.”

Naomi went completely rigid.

I looked at her and said it word by word: “What happened yesterday—that was my lapse in judgment.”

“I’ll give you a sum of money.”

“From now on, don’t appear in front of me again.”

Naomi’s eyes went red instantly.

She opened her mouth as if to say something more.

But in the end, she only bit down hard on her lip, turned, and walked away.

I leaned back against the wall. My chest felt suffocated.

I told myself it was just because Esme’s words had gotten under my skin.

Sure, I’d been too lenient with Naomi—but we’d never actually been together before.

If not for yesterday, I wouldn’t have even known Naomi could be so… forward.

The thought made me stop cold.

Those incidents… every single time Esme had been caught “cheating,” it was Naomi who’d handled the investigation for me.

I immediately pulled out my phone and dialed my secretary.

“I need you to look into a few things.”

“Early January last year, the eighth of last month, and a few days ago—why Esme ended up in those hotels.”

I paused. “And the three men.”

The other end confirmed quickly.

I hung up.

All of it—every single case—I’d handed to Naomi.

But if Naomi had her own agenda all along… My fingers clenched violently.

I opened the chat with Esme immediately.

My fingertip hovered over the screen for a few seconds. Then I typed a single line.

[Esme, I’m sorry.]

Sent.

I stared at the screen.

One minute.

Ten minutes.

One hour.

No reply.

Her silence terrified me more than any accusation ever could.

I typed another line.

[Your son keeps calling for you. Will you come back and see him? Please?]

Still nothing.

I slid slowly down the wall until I was sitting on the floor, face buried in my palms.

Last night’s images forced their way back, uninvited.

Esme—locked inside the wardrobe by me.

Mouth sealed with tape. Hands bound. And all she could do, through that wardrobe door, was listen to me with another woman.

I remembered her thrashing, desperate, trying to tell me—her mother was about to jump.

And what had I said?

I’d called her dramatic.

My chest suddenly felt like it was caving in.

I dropped my head, sucked in a hard breath.

Still couldn’t quite catch it.
