The Triple Betrayal: He Cheated With My Best Friend So I Left Chapter 03

I fought it for a long while.

In the end, I got in a cab and gave the driver the address the doctor gave me.

It was a human life. No matter how much I hated her, I couldn’t just let her die…

By the time I reached the hospital, out of breath, I saw a face I knew.

Julian.

He was leaning against the wall, looking frayed and restless.

Before I could ask anything, the doctor came out of the operating room.

He didn’t bother hiding his contempt. Not for me. He turned to Julian.

“You two really don’t know when to stop, do you? “

“Even in bed, there’s a limit. Her cyst ruptured. Did you know that if we’d gotten here any later, she’d have bled out internally?”

I stood there frozen, like I’d just been slapped across the face.

A ruptured cyst.

I’d rushed here like a fool, only to be handed one more filthy humiliation.

The doctor noticed me then, his tone softening slightly.

“You’re Miss Ivy’s family, I take it? Her boyfriend got her here fast. He’s already signed the papers.”

The hallway light was blindingly white. It landed cold on my face.

Julian looked at me. Tension flickering in his eyes.

I could tell. He was afraid of what I might do. Fall apart. Scream. Cry.

Yet I only smiled. “Good.”

Then the doctor walk back into the operating room. I turned to leave.

Julian pushed up off the bench. “Wait. Ivy wants to say a few words to you.”

I didn’t turn around. I didn’t even stop.

He rushed over and blocked my way.

I let out a sigh. “Say what? The details how you fucked her? What position they were in when she ruptured?”

Julian’s face dropped, his expression sharp with anger.

“Nora! Have you no heart? Ivy never wanted to compete with you. “

“If anything, she’s the one who’s been suffering in silence all these years. You don’t realize how much she’s sacrificed, and now you want to humiliate her on top of it?”

My hand closed into a fist without my permission.

Nails cut into my palm. Everything past that point went numb.

That’s when the nurses wheeled Ivy out of the operating room and into the recovery room.

I wanted to leave. Yet Julian dragged me in after her, his grip like a shackle.

I pulled. He wouldn’t budge.

Ivy lay against the raised bed, her face ghostly pale, an IV line taped into the back of her hand.

Even like that, she pushed herself up when she saw me.

“Nora. You came…”

I said nothing. I just looked at her, cold.

Her eyes went red again. She flicked a glance at Julian.

Julian’s jaw tightened, but he walked out, clearly reluctant.

Only then did Ivy struggle upright, reach under the pillow, and hold out a folded paper.

An abortion record. Dated three years ago.

She looked me straight in the eye. Her voice shook.

“Nora, believe me or not, I never intended to come between you and Julian.”

“Three years ago, I got pregnant with his child. I didn’t keep it. “

She gave a bitter smile.

“The thing is, I actually loved that baby. The doctor said if I had the abortion, I might not get pregnant again. But I did it anyway.”

“Because I wasn’t willing to lose you. My friendship with you mattered more than a child I hadn’t even met.”

She pulled in a breath, like it was costing her the last of her strength.

“Look, now I’ve already paid for my mistake, can you forgive me? Last night was the last time I’ll ever lose control like that. “

“Julian already promised me. From now on, he won’t do anything to wrong you again. I’ll move out. “

“If you’re willing, we can still be best friends. And Julian can still be your boyfriend.”
