The Viper Stepmother’s Mafia Justice Chapter 23

The Viper Stepmother’s Mafia Justice Chapter 23

The Final Judgment

While I broke in the garden, Leo finished the war inside our walls.

I learned it at dawn. He had locked himself in the study. Three monitors. Two keyboards. Bullet slept at his feet, back leg bandaged.

Isabella’s network was still alive. Bartenders. Valets. Drivers. Paid eyes across Vegas.

Leo found them all.

He cross-checked call logs, vendors, staff records. One by one, the names appeared.

He didn’t wake anyone. Didn’t ask permission.

He froze their access. Sent arrest orders to security. Seven moles. Gone before breakfast.

Then he erased every backdoor Isabella left behind.

At dawn, I found him still in the chair. Bullet lifted his head when I walked in.

“Leo. How long have you been here?”

“All night.”

He turned the screen toward me. Network secure. Zero active threats.

“You did this alone?”

“You taught me how.”

Eleven years old. Dark circles. Steady hands. His father’s jaw. My kind of calm.

He stood. Walked to me. Then he took my hand.

His voice was quiet. Almost a whisper.

“Mom.”

One word. Not “Sloane.” Not a title. Mom.

My throat closed. Every wall I had ever built came down in that single syllable.

I pulled him close. This time, he didn’t resist.

Mia appeared in the doorway with Shadow. She ran into us.

I held them both. Leo gripped my shoulder. Mia locked around my waist. Shadow and Bullet pressed against our legs.

Blood had never held this family together. Love had. The kind that gets chosen every single day.

Vincent vanished that night. Dominic left before sunrise.

For three days, he followed.

By dawn, Vegas had one less king.

He came home silent. Washed his hands in the kitchen sink. I didn’t ask.

The noon news said enough. Vincent Thorne was dead.

That left Isabella.

She sat in the deepest cell beneath the estate. No windows. No clock. Only concrete and silence.

Dominic would have let me decide her fate. I didn’t.

This choice belonged to the children.

Leo stood with his hands in his pockets. Mia held Shadow’s collar.

The guards opened the door.

Isabella looked up from the floor. Pale. Thin. Already shaking.

She looked up at the children.

“Leo. Mia. Please—”

Neither child moved. No anger. No tears. Nothing.

“I’m your mother. Your real mother. Doesn’t that matter?”

Leo looked at her the way you look at a stranger on the street.

“It doesn’t.”

Mia pressed closer to Shadow.

“I want her gone. I never want to see her again.”

Isabella’s face crumbled. She reached for them.

Neither child stepped forward.

I crouched between Leo and Mia.

“You heard them.”

I stood and faced Isabella.

“A ship leaves tonight. It takes you to a private island off the shipping lanes. No town. No port. No name. The Moretti name is stripped from you. You live there alone. Until you die.”

Isabella’s mouth opened.

“Death would have been quicker,” I said. “But my children chose mercy. And mercy from a Moretti is worse than a bullet.”

Isabella screamed as the guards dragged her out.

The children didn’t look back.

Mia took my hand. Leo walked ahead with Bullet.

The cell door closed behind us.

By sunrise, Vegas had only one name left to fear.

Moretti.
