The Wedding Game That Cost Him Everything Chapter 28
Tucker lay propped against another hospital bed, his face ashen.
He hadn’t looked at Sierra once since the video began.
Only when Sloane brought up that old lie did he stir.
“What she said is true.”
Sloane froze.
Sierra’s grip slowly tightened on her cane.
Tucker’s voice was very quiet.
“Sloane was driving. I knew in advance that she planned to scare Sierra. After the accident, I lied for her.”
“How dare you admit that!” Sloane screamed at him. “It’s been years!”
“Because Isolde was right.”
At last, Tucker lifted his head.
But the person he looked at was me.
“None of it was fun.”
I looked away.
He had said those words before.
The first time, both his hands were broken.
This time, he was paralyzed in bed and had lost his place as heir.
But Sierra’s leg had been gone since the day he decided the whole thing was entertaining.
His awakening always came after the harm was done.
Sloane was still cursing.
“You think admitting it means Isolde will come back to you?”
“She doesn’t even want to look at you.”
“You had me chase those women away for you, and now you’re playing the devoted one?”
Tucker’s expression finally changed.
“I never told you to hit Sierra.”
“But you helped me.”
Sloane split her mouth in a smile.
“You helped me every single time. You lied for me, gave me money, and even bought me a car after Isolde’s ear was hurt. Without you, would I ever have dared to keep playing?”
