The Wedding Game That Cost Him Everything Chapter 30

Tucker opened his eyes and looked at her coldly.

“And sending her family and friends to that island was your game, too?”

Sloane shot back immediately, “Wasn’t it you who took her phone and locked her in the dressing room?”

“You told me not to send a boat.”

“And you listened.”

The two of them started arguing again.

Chloe was sitting beside me, and by this point, her hands were shaking with anger.

When it was her turn to testify, she brought Peace into the frame.

“At the time, I was three months pregnant.”

“Fifteen of us were dumped in a place with no signal. The boats and guards were all gone, and the hurricane warning had already been issued.”

“If coastal rescue had found us even a little later, this child might not be standing here today.”

Peace didn’t understand what was happening.

Resting her head on Chloe’s shoulder, she asked softly, “Mommy, why does that lady keep smiling?”

The smile on Sloane’s face stiffened.

Chloe patted her daughter’s back.

“Because she doesn’t know she did anything wrong.”

“I do know!” Sloane screamed. “Aren’t all of you alive and well?”

“Isolde’s ear healed, your child was born, and Sierra has the best prosthetic there is now. Why is every single one of you still coming after me?”

No one answered her.

She had already said the answer herself.

In her eyes, as long as the victim didn’t die, whatever she did could always become a joke again.

Tucker suddenly spoke.

“She stole the ashes.”

Sloane whipped around at once.

“But you were the one who poured them into the fish tank.”

“I thought they were fake.”

“So fake made it okay?”

That was what I had once asked Tucker.

Now, coming from Sloane’s mouth, it sounded absurd enough to be laughable.

It was as if someone had slapped Tucker across the face.

He said nothing more.

I turned off my microphone.

They had finally begun putting each other on trial.

And I no longer needed to participate.
