They Canceled My Ticket I Canceled Them Chapter 12

Time doesn’t solve problems, but it does remove people’s power to influence your life.

Three years later. Paris.

“Elena, the board has approved it. You’ll be heading the North American M&A project.”

The white-haired senior partner pushed a file across the desk toward me.

In a sharply tailored suit, I took it.

“Thank you, Mr. Smith. I’ll see to it.”

Three years was long enough to erase the past from my daily life.

I was now the youngest regional partner at LN International Design Group, in charge of our next round of acquisitions in North America.

Back in Chicago, things were very different.

Our due diligence materials showed that two years ago, one of Marcus’s company’s core projects had been hit with a plagiarism scandal. The lead designer on the project was Madison.

Marcus, trying to protect her, had neither fired her nor cooperated with an independent investigation.

Daniel and Tyler had poured family money into the company to cover settlements and legal fees.

The move had drained the Reed family’s business of its cash flow.
