Three Years For His Fiancée Chapter 02
On my first day, a guard knocked on the door.
“Athena Brinsley, you have a visitor. The rest of you—clean her up and make sure nothing’s visible.”
The female inmates responded with smiles, pretending to fix my hair gently.
“Don’t even think about reporting this, or you might just get killed in here one day,” the ringleader whispered harshly in my ear, her hand gripping my wound and twisting it.
I stumbled into the visiting room in a daze. The moment I saw Anthony, I welled up in tears.
“Tony…” I picked up the booth phone, my voice trembling uncontrollably. “I’m your mother, Tony. Look at me.”
Anthony Reegan wore a white shirt and black trousers, dressed like a prince from another era, his features resembling Julian’s.
His gaze was unfamiliar, and he frowned deeply when he heard me.
“Athena!”
Julian cut me off immediately. “We agreed from the start that Kimberly is Tony’s real mother! What are you doing now? Are you trying to embarrass her?
“It seems Kimberly was right—you try to take the child away every chance you get.
“Do you really want Tony to have a murderer as his mother?”
My heart sank heavily. “But…”
Anthony was my child, though. I carried the twins for ten months, yet I wasn’t even allowed to see them before Julian took them away.
Suddenly, Anthony spoke. “You’re a bad woman.”
His voice wasn’t loud, but I heard it clearly.
“According to Mom, you’re a bad woman. You tried stealing my dad, so you got locked up.”
I froze in place, my whole body trembling.
“Tony!” Julian scolded sharply, then crouched down to look at him. “That was rude. She’s ‘Ms. Brinsley’ to you.”
Having been frightened, Anthony’s eyes reddened. He pouted, took out a drawing from his pocket, and pressed it against the glass.
There were four people in it—Julian, Kimberly, Alexandra Reegan, and himself.
Anthony pointed at it. “This is my family. You’re not part of it.”
He put the drawing away and turned to leave.
Julian picked up the receiver and spoke briefly. “Behave yourself in there. I’ve already made the necessary arrangements. No one will bully you while you’re in there.”
My eyes were fixed on Anthony’s retreating.
Hearing that, I lifted my prison uniform. My pale skin was covered in bruises and wounds. “Are you sure you’ve got it all handled?”
Julian’s expression changed when he saw my injuries. “Athena, you made these wounds yourself, didn’t you?
“Are you going to say Kimberly told them to do this too?”
He took out his phone and showed me a message from Kimberly.
“If Kimberly hadn’t shown me the evidence beforehand, I would’ve believed you!
“I’ve said it before—she’s innocent. Stop trying to smear her reputation!
“I’ll come visit you again tomorrow. Tony’s upset. He’ll definitely go back home crying to Kimberly.”
I sat there blankly, still holding the receiver as it beeped.
I had been with Julian for ten years, yet he didn’t believe a word I said.
The image of Anthony’s drawing still lingered on the glass—the family of four my own son had drawn, without me in it.
