Adrian’s face had gone frighteningly pale.
He had always been proud, forceful, effortlessly in control.
Even when he knelt in the rain, he had looked like a man on the verge of victory.

“I’ll handle the website provider, the bank, the media—everything. Sloane will never appear in front of you again. Once the project stabilizes, we can have the engagement party, however you want it.”
I looked at him, and felt nothing.
