Westley You Are Late Chapter 14
It was quiet behind me.
I could feel Westley’s eyes burning into my back.
After a moment, I heard him laugh, a short, humorless sound.
“Brielle, save that line for someone else.”
His tone was patronizing, as if he were humoring a child.
“If you want to get married so badly, I’ll go with you to City Hall right now.”
“We can replace that Photoshopped picture on your Instagram with a real one.”
For a moment, I was speechless.
So even now, he still thought this was all an act. The Instagram post, trying on this dress—all just a ploy to pressure him into marriage.
“Westley, I’m already married. That so-called edited picture…”
I took out my phone, unlocked it, and went to my photo album.
I had just pulled up the image of the marriage certificate when Westley’s phone rang.
He glanced at the screen.
Sofia.
I couldn’t hear what she said, but Westley’s face changed instantly.
He turned and strode toward the exit.
“Don’t be scared. I’m on my way.”
I knew this scene all too well.
So well that my heart gave a familiar, reflexive clench.
Over the past five years, this had happened more times than I could count.
And every single time, I was the one left behind.
I used to tell myself it was because they’d grown up together, that their bond was just that deep.
Later, I realized that wasn’t it at all.
It was a choice. A choice Westley made, over and over again.
Another iMessage notification lit up my screen. It was from him.
“Friday night. You’re coming to the Summit Club dinner, right?”
I didn’t reply.
I just deleted the message and blocked his number.
