You Told Me To Walk So I Walked Right Out Of Your Lives Chapter 19

Leo saw the words, too.

The smile on his face faded slightly, but he didn’t reach for my phone.

“Are you going back?”

I opened the transfer record and pressed return.

“No.”

“Then… about what we were just saying…”

He stared at me, clearly still thinking about his promise.

I put my phone away. “I promised I’d wait until you got in. I didn’t promise I’d date you.”

Leo blinked, stunned for two seconds.

“Then can I apply for one date first?”

“Aren’t you here to study?”

“Studying and applying for a date aren’t mutually exclusive.”

He took his acceptance letter from his backpack and held it out to me seriously.

“You said the condition was that I got in. Well, I did.”

I looked at the letter and couldn’t help but smile.

“Just one meal, for now.”

“Okay.”

He answered instantly.

“And after the meal, I’ll apply for the next one.”

For the next three years, he really did ask, every single time.

He never made decisions for me, and he never used “it’s for your own good” as an excuse to force me into anything.

When my left hand ached so badly I couldn’t hold a book, he would place it on the table and turn the pages for me.

When I said I didn’t need his help, he would immediately let go.

When I woke from nightmares in the middle of the night, he would just stay on the phone and talk with me.

He never once told me to forget the past.
