You Told Me To Walk So I Walked Right Out Of Your Lives Chapter 28

The next afternoon, I went.

Not because I was afraid of her.

But because I refused to let that message become a shadow that loomed over every unfamiliar call I received for the rest of my life.

Miller parked her car nearby.

“I’ll be right here,” she said. “Call me if you need anything.”

I nodded and walked to the lake alone.

Sofia was already waiting.

She wore a shabby coat and held up her phone.

The screen faced me, the red livestream icon glowing in the corner.

“You actually came.”

“What do you want everyone to see?”

She gritted her teeth. “I want them to hear you admit that you deliberately let them trade you to the traffickers. That you set me up and sent me to prison.”

There were already a lot of people in her livestream chat.

I didn’t shy away from the camera.

“Detective Miller and I worked together. I served as bait to catch the traffickers who had escaped. That was all made public at the time.”

Sofia froze.

She clearly hadn’t expected me to admit it so directly.

“So you admit you set me up!”

“You were the gang’s recruiter. In front of the cameras, you also admitted that I was the one who led the police to your location the first time.”

The comments on the screen started flying.

Sofia glanced down, and her face grew even uglier.

“I was too young! I was insecure!”

“When you tricked me into going to the school, you knew the letter only said ‘Sucker.’ After you fell into the lake, you knew perfectly well who saved you.”

“So what?” her voice sharpened. “You were supposed to give way to me!”

“My parents were dead. You had everything!”
