The Fourth Life She Guarded Me Chapter 37
She pouted unhappily.
After a while, she seemed to work it out for herself and lowered her head to kiss me.
“Then I can just have a little saliva first.”
I said nothing.
This was bad.
What exactly had I taught her?
That bottle of aphrodisiac had ruined everything.
Dizzy in her arms, my gaze drifted down below the tree by accident.
Only then did I vaguely remember that while we were tangled up, people really had come by…
“Paloma, did people come by earlier?”
“Yes.”
“Then stop kissing me for a second.”
I pushed at her.
Only then did she reluctantly draw her tongue back.
“What? Am I not allowed to eat?”
“I’m asking you—did people come by?”
“Didn’t I just say they did?”
“Where did they go? What did they want?”
“Don’t know what they wanted.”
Paloma looked wholly unconcerned. After saying that, she leaned in to kiss me again.
I turned my head away, and her kiss landed on my cheek.
“Meredith.”
She was displeased at once.
“You’re not letting me eat?”
“Tell me what happened first. You aren’t hungry right now anyway.”
Paloma bit the inside of her cheek.
“Then ask fast.”
“Where did those people go?”
“I ate them.”
I said nothing.
I was so shocked I couldn’t speak.
Paloma took advantage of my open mouth and slid her tongue straight in.
I shoved at her angrily.
“Y-you… stop kissing me!”
She ignored me completely.
Pinning me against the branch, she kissed me hard enough that the root of my tongue ached.
I hit her.
“Paloma, you’re not even hungry, stop it.”
“I’m not hungry. I just want to.”
My hand stopped abruptly.
“What did you just say?”
“Meredith, I like your taste.”
Her words came out muffled as she lowered her head and kissed me again.
“Let me have a little more. Please.”
Her hands roamed over me without restraint.
I wrapped my arms around her, my breathing unsteady.
“Paloma, the Threshold’s exit is about to open. Let’s go out first. We can talk after we leave…”
“Okay. I’ll listen to you.”
She said that with her mouth, but her hands didn’t stop for a moment.
This domineering, unreasonable creature.
Now she had even learned how to placate me without meaning a word of it.
