He Tested Me With Prenup I Left Him With Regret Chapter 11
Celeste’s face had gone pale. “I had no idea that exam was so important!”
Grant stared at her, then looked around the room.
“Who here didn’t see the study schedule Maya posted in her prep group?”
No one answered.
Several people averted their eyes.
The schedule had been precise down to the hour—when she was reviewing, when she was doing mock exams. Maya had even said it was her last chance at a promotion.
At the time, Celeste had only replied, “What’s the big deal? It’s just some librarian’s exam.”
And Grant had believed her.
Finally, someone asked in a low voice, “Celeste, Lucy wasn’t sick at all that night. You deliberately lied to send Maya to the hospital, didn’t you?”
“And the bracelet, too. Every time there was some test, you were the one who suggested it.”
Celeste whirled around. “You all laughed, too! Don’t act so innocent now!”
“But you were the one who lied.”
“That’s because she acted so above it all!”
Celeste’s voice jumped sharply.
“She’s a librarian from some little town—what gave her the right to act like she was too good for any of us? I couldn’t stand it!”
