I Died The Day My Husband’s Girlfriend Did A Magic Trick. Chapter 09

Caius stopped pacing and stared at him.

The detective stood and pushed a report with a red seal across the table.

“We just received word from the hospital. Your mother-in-law has been resuscitated and is temporarily out of danger.”

“And the forensic DNA results are back.”

“The victim is Meredith Walker.”

The room fell silent.

Caius stood frozen for a long moment.

Then he suddenly laughed, sat back down, and even crossed one leg over the other.

“You’re overdoing it with this act, don’t you think?”

He lifted his cuffed hands and tapped the report.

“How much did Meredith pay you?”

“You even forged a document like this?”

“She’s just throwing a tantrum because I asked her to help Josephine with the performance yesterday.”

The detective looked at him, the last bit of patience draining from his eyes.

“Since you don’t believe it, you can go see for yourself.”

The morgue at the police forensics center was cold.

Caius was escorted inside by two officers. His steps were unsteady, but he kept muttering under his breath.

“Meredith, that crazy woman.”

“When I expose her, we’ll see how she explains this.”

The medical examiner pulled open a refrigerated drawer and slid out a black body bag.

Caius stood beside it, a smile still forced onto his face.

When the zipper opened, there was no body inside.

Only a pile of mangled flesh and severed limbs.

The arm wearing the ring had been placed on top.

The torn flesh was a bruised, bluish color.

The smile on Caius’s face froze.
