I Died The Day My Husband’s Girlfriend Did A Magic Trick. Chapter 08

He knew that ring.

The inner band was engraved with “CW & MH.”

The year we got married, he’d bought it from a pawnshop.

I had worn it for seven years.

“Where… where did that come from?”

Caius’s voice began to tremble.

“Meredith would go this far to frame me? She’d fake something like this?”

The detective folded his hands and looked at him.

“Caius, how much longer are you going to lie to yourself?”

“The forensics team is running the DNA comparison now. Once the results are in, you won’t have any excuses left.”

Caius shot to his feet, knocking his chair over.

“Impossible.”

“She was on stage arguing with me yesterday. How could she be… like this… today?”

He paced back and forth in the small room.

“Where’s Josephine? I want to see Josephine.”

“She can prove this was all Meredith’s scheme.”

In the interrogation room next door, Josephine was crying into a tissue.

“Officer, I don’t know anything.”

“During the performance yesterday, Meredith was clearly fine.”

The female officer looked up at her.

“Are you sure she was still alive then?”

Josephine nodded immediately.

“Of course. She must have left on her own afterward.”

I floated between the two rooms, watching them, feeling nothing but disgust.

The interrogation room door opened.

A young officer walked in and whispered something in the detective’s ear.

The detective’s expression hardened.

He looked at Caius.

“The results are in.”
