I Died The Day My Husband’s Girlfriend Did A Magic Trick. Chapter 07
Caius’s pupils contracted.
He stared at the photo for a long second, but his voice remained defiant.
“So what?”
“That was fake blood for the performance.”
“And whatever that is was probably just waste from a butcher shop.”
Josephine immediately added, “The box was broken. I was the one who asked someone to throw it away. Is that illegal?”
The officer looked at them coldly.
“The forensic team has already tested it. It’s human blood.”
Caius’s expression finally changed.
“That’s impossible. The test has to be wrong.”
“Meredith is trying to frame Josephine. She’d do anything.”
The officer didn’t argue with him anymore.
With a sharp click, the handcuffs locked around Caius’s wrists.
“If there’s been a mistake, you can tell us about it at the station.”
By the time the police car pulled into the station, the sky was fully bright.
Caius was taken into an interrogation room.
The overhead light was harsh. He narrowed his eyes, annoyed.
The detective in charge of the interrogation pulled out a chair, sat down, and placed a file on the table.
“Caius Walker, at three o’clock yesterday afternoon, you attended a magic performance at the Starlight Theater, correct?”
Caius rolled his neck.
“Yes. So?”
“Is helping a friend with a performance against the law now?”
The detective turned on a projector.
A photo appeared on the wall.
It showed a metal box at the waste station, crushed and deformed, with blackened blood caked in every crack.
Caius glanced at the photo.
“What does this prove?”
“I already told you. That was prop blood.”
The detective pressed a button on the remote.
The image changed.
A mangled arm, clearly torn apart by a machine, appeared on the screen.
On the ring finger was an old platinum wedding band.
Caius’s breathing hitched.
