If Your Heart Doesn’t Lean Towards Me I Don’t Want It Chapter 17

If Your Heart Doesn’t Lean Towards Me I Don’t Want It Chapter 17

A week later, I saw Ellis again in the pretrial mediation room.

The man everyone said had fallen apart was sitting quietly at the other end of the long table.

He was thinner, with dark circles under his eyes.

On the table between us lay a single sheet of paper.

It was a printout of one of his texts to me.

I had the tech team handle the video. Everything that could be deleted is gone. Forgive Tessa. Don’t make this a bigger deal than it is.

Printed on paper, the words felt permanent, undeniable.

Ellis stared at the page for a long time before speaking in a low voice.

“I didn’t leak the video.”

My lawyer slid the judgment from Tessa’s criminal case across the table.

“You did not personally upload the video.”

“But you filmed it. It was stored in your cloud account.”

“You gave Tessa unrestricted access to that account over a long period of time. And after she confessed to you, you halted the investigation and prevented Ms. Ricci from contacting the police.”

Every sentence was a fact, an action he had taken.

Ellis’s fingers slowly curled into a fist.
