The Underboss’s Doormat Wife Is The Don’s Queen Chapter 08

The Grieving Widow

Everyone in the room falls silent.

I look directly at the officer.

“Please investigate.”

I tell them everything I know, including what I overheard outside the VIP booth.

The officer asks why I called Victor.

“I couldn’t stop my husband. I thought if Victor came to get Mia, she’d leave with him. I didn’t know he would do this.”

“I didn’t want a divorce.”

“I loved Dante.”

The people who were in the VIP booth are questioned too.

“Aria is completely submissive to Dante. He cheated right in front of her, and she didn’t say a word.”

“She wouldn’t hurt him.”

“Dante and Mia weren’t even trying to hide the affair anymore, and Aria still never confronted him. She’s followed Dante around since they were teenagers. She doesn’t know how to live without him.”

The police check my finances.

I have millions of dollars in my personal accounts.

There is no financial motive.

I’m released that night.

I go straight to the funeral home.

Dante lies inside a refrigerated viewing unit, his eyes closed.

“Ma’am, storage is four hundred dollars a day. When would you like us to proceed with cremation?” the funeral director asks.

“Now.”

I pay the fee.

They begin the cremation arrangements, and I drive back to the house Dante and I shared.

The deed is in both our names.

I paid off the mortgage years ago.

The next morning, I hire an estate attorney.

I begin probate proceedings for Dante’s estate. He has multiple properties and accounts under his name.

We have no children.

“Under the estate documents, you’re the sole beneficiary,” the lawyer says.

I hand him a complete list of Dante’s assets.

“Please move this forward as quickly as possible.”

Then I hire another attorney to handle everything connected to the criminal case.

I ask about recovering the money Dante spent on Mia.

“During their affair, my husband spent exactly $3.52 million of our marital funds on Mia.”

I place the receipts and bank records on the desk.

“I want every dollar back.”
