He Was Reborn To Claim Me But I’m Already Married Chapter 24
When Margaret came again, she brought the everlasting flower crown with her.
The flowers were preserved inside a transparent box, their colors still vivid, as if they would never fade.
She placed the box on the table along with a new settlement agreement.
“Claire, Adrian was wrong, and the Hawthorne family is willing to compensate you.”
“This agreement does not ask you to change your testimony. It only asks that after the criminal case is over, neither side speak publicly about the matter again.”
Mother sat beside me, her face a mask of cold fury.
“So you’re asking my daughter to take money and keep her mouth shut?”
“That’s not what I mean.”
Margaret looked as though she had aged ten years.
“Hawthorne Group isn’t just Adrian. There’s the board, the employees, the foundation. Too many people will be affected by this.”
She nudged the flower crown forward.
“And this is Adrian’s.”
“After what happened, I had someone put it away. Since it was meant for you, it should be yours.”
I didn’t touch it.
“The first time, he threw the flower crown into the Charles River.”
“The second time, he sent me one that would never fade, thinking that if the gift were rare enough, I ought to forget everything that came before.”
Margaret parted her lips to speak.
I cut her off.
“Mrs. Hawthorne, the flowers did nothing wrong.”
“But I don’t want them.”
The usually quiet Evelyn suddenly spoke up.
“When Adrian climbed into our yard and tried to force Claire to get a divorce, you had already frozen his accounts and ordered security to watch him, hadn’t you?”
