He Was Reborn To Claim Me But I’m Already Married Chapter 25

Margaret’s expression stiffened.

“After he forced his way out of the house, you knew he was unstable.”

“So why, when you came to my wedding, did you not say a single word of warning?”

“I thought he only wanted to see Claire one more time.”

“You were afraid the wedding would be called off, that the scandal would get bigger, and that it would damage the Hawthorne family’s reputation, weren’t you?”

When Evelyn finished, the only sound in the sitting room was the ticking of the clock.

In my previous life, she and Mother had been good friends.

Mother had told Margaret things she couldn’t say to anyone else.

But now, Mother only pushed the agreement back across the table.

“Please leave.”

Margaret rose, the agreement in hand, but she did not pick up the flower crown.

When she reached the door, I stopped her.

“Take that with you, too.”

“As for compensation, my lawyer will pursue it through the proper channels. Criminal liability and civil liability—I won’t let go of either.”

Margaret turned to look at me.

Perhaps for the first time, she realized I was no longer the little girl who trailed after Adrian and Evelyn, the one who could be placated with a few soothing words.

In the end, she said nothing. She picked up the transparent box and left.

Not long after, Hawthorne Group formally announced Adrian’s removal from all positions.

The board refused to keep paying the price for his personal conduct.

Margaret also withdrew the family’s funding for his enormous legal fees.

When the news spread, all the families who had once competed to marry into the Hawthorne dynasty fell silent.

But Adrian still refused to plead guilty.

Through his lawyer, he sent me one sentence:

*Claire will forgive me.*

I read it once and handed the paper back.

“In the future, there’s no need to pass messages like that to me.”

I had forgiven him too many times already.

In this life, I would not.
