He Was Reborn To Claim Me But I’m Already Married Chapter 32

Then he bent down and held me tightly.

“Thank you.”

I was too exhausted to speak, so I only lifted a hand and touched his hair.

Mother and Grandmother came in one after the other.

Both of them were crying.

Grandmother took Mother’s hand, and Mother took mine.

Suddenly, I remembered Mother’s prayer, repeated day after day.

In her last life, she had lost Evelyn.

And then she had watched helplessly as I wasted away in a cold marriage.

So for the rest of her life, she had prayed for both her daughters to be safe and happy.

Now, Evelyn stood by the bed with the husband she had chosen for herself.

I held my daughter in my arms while Daniel gently tucked the blanket around me.

At last, Mother’s prayer had been answered.

A few months later, the civil case concluded as well.

The Hawthornes no longer demanded my silence.

My lawyer recovered the compensation I was owed and ensured the protective order remained in effect.

After discussing it with Evelyn, I took part of the money and set up a small foundation.

It was specifically meant to help women being forced into marriage by their families, or harassed and harmed by so-called lovers.

When Mother learned of it, she was quiet for a long time.

Then she voluntarily donated an equal amount.

Grandmother did, too.

The first letter we received came from a girl only nineteen years old.

She said her family had already chosen a husband for her, but she wanted to continue her studies.

At the end of the letter, she asked:

*Can I say no?*

I picked up my pen and wrote back one short sentence.

*Of course you can. It’s your life.*
