He Was Reborn To Claim Me But I’m Already Married Chapter 33

Three years later, the spring flower festival in Back Bay was held as usual.

Flowers bloomed all along the Charles River.

Young men in flower crowns wandered about, blushing as they offered them to girls they liked.

My daughter sat on Daniel’s shoulders, fascinated by everything she saw.

The moment he wasn’t paying attention, she yanked the flower crown from his head and hugged it to her chest, refusing to let go.

Daniel sighed dramatically.

“That was for your mother.”

She looked at him, then at me, hesitated for a long time, and finally plucked a tiny blossom from the crown and handed it to me.

Evelyn laughed so hard she had to lean on her husband’s shoulder.

“How generous. She saved one for you.”

I tucked the flower behind my ear and held out my hand to my daughter.

“The rest are all yours.”

She broke into a brilliant smile and threw herself forward into my arms.

Mother gasped and quickly steadied her.

Grandmother, cane in hand, came up last, muttering, “Slow down. Don’t let her fall.”

Mother turned to scold her. “You’re the one who should be walking more slowly.”

And just like that, they started bickering again.

Holding my daughter beneath the pear tree, I suddenly remembered another time, many years ago.

I had stood here then, too.

My arms full of flower crowns from strangers, waiting with all my heart for one person.

Adrian had come.

But all he’d left me with were the cruelest words, before throwing his own crown into the river.

Because of that day, I had once wondered if I simply wasn’t good enough.

Later, I understood that humiliation should never be a disguise for love.
