He Cheated With My Friend My Parents Helped Chapter 24

After reviewing the posts, the HR manager closed the browser tab.

“We will protect your privacy, Ms. Archer. And for the record, the materials we have on file do not show any violation of institute policy on your part or Dr. Hart’s.”

The investigation ended quickly. My position and my project were unaffected.

But the anonymous complainant didn’t let it go. She called the institute’s front desk.

She was halfway through her tirade when the receptionist asked for her name.

There was a long silence on the other end before she hung up.

That same evening, Gabriel contacted my lawyer.

“That wasn’t me,” he insisted. “I had no idea Sienna would harass Mags.”

The lawyer asked him how he was so certain it was Sienna.

He had no answer.

At the same time, Gabriel stormed into Sienna’s apartment.

“Why did you contact Margot’s workplace?”

Sienna didn’t deny it.

“I just told them the truth. She and Julian were already together. Why else would she have a job and an apartment waiting for her the second she got to Boston?”

Gabriel stared at her, his face grim.

“Because Julian helped her when she needed it most. When all of us abandoned her.”

“What right do you have to blame either of them?”

Sienna’s face flushed.

“All of us? You were the one who pushed her down. You were the one who left. Now that you’ve lost her, you’re trying to put all the blame on me.”

Gabriel’s right eye was shot with red.

“You said your stomach hurt. That’s why I left.”

“But I didn’t make you go,” she shot back. “You chose to believe me.”

They looked at each other, and for the first time, neither of them could pretend their years together had been about love.

Suddenly, Sienna laughed, a bitter, broken sound.

“You were never going to marry me. You just liked that I didn’t ask for a title, and you couldn’t give up the comfortable home Margot gave you.”

Gabriel raised his hand, but instead of hitting her, he smashed his fist into the wall beside her head.

Sienna stumbled back, startled.

“Get out.”

“This is my apartment.”

“Then I’ll go.”

The door slammed shut behind him.

This time, no one chased after anyone.
