She Stole My Fiancé So I Married The Prince Chapter 16
They thought my walking out of the Royal Castle meant I had forgiven them.
What they didn’t notice was that my eyes were fixed the entire time on an old SUV driving toward us in the distance.
The car stopped in front of the visitor entrance.
I shook my mother’s hand off and hurried forward to open the back door myself.
Grandma Maeve was sitting inside, smiling at me.
Just as she always had when welcoming me home, she lifted a hand and patted my head.
I helped her out of the car and walked toward the castle without looking back.
At last, my mother’s smile broke.
She screamed after me, “Camille, if you weren’t willing to see us, then why did you come out?”
“I’m your mother! Do you have any conscience at all, treating me like this?”
I stopped and turned back to face her, my voice cold.
“Who said I came out to see you?”
“I came to greet the person who actually raised me.”
My mother froze where she stood.
The cold wind swept across the visitor plaza, and suddenly she broke down, sobbing without any regard for appearances.
“Camille! I was in labor for a whole day giving birth to you. How can you be so heartless?”
Her collapse stirred no pity in me.
In my previous life, I had cried just like that, begging her to love me.
She had only looked at me in disgust and told the staff to drag “that madwoman” away.
“You stopped being my mother a long time ago.”
