My Fiancé Chose Her So I Chose Myself Chapter 16
The next afternoon, as I walked out of the office building, Jenna lunged out from behind the landscaping by the curb.
Her hair was a mess, her eyes wild, and her nails were sharpened into claws. She was clutching something in her hand.
“Natalie Whitman, you ruined my life!”
She screamed and threw herself at me.
Company security moved instantly, stepping between us. One guard knocked her arm aside while another brought her to the ground with a composite restraint strap.
She was still struggling, still cursing at me. The metal travel tumbler in her hand rolled down the steps, dented where it hit the concrete.
I stood on the top step and looked down at her.
Three years ago, the slightest sign of discomfort from her would have brought four people rushing to her side. Now, that performance couldn’t spare her the consequences of assault.
“Call the police and notify the Lakecrest patrol,” I told Marissa.
The police and the Lakecrest patrol arrived quickly. They collected the tumbler, reviewed the security footage, and took Jenna away on suspicion of assault and making threats.
When I went to the station to give my statement, Travis and Evan were already there.
When they saw Jenna in handcuffs, there was no trace of their old concern. Only disgust remained.
“Natalie, are you hurt?” Travis asked, coming toward me and trying to inspect my arm.
I stepped back.
Evan spoke up at once.
“I’ll give the police and the council everything I know. You should apply for a protective order. She can’t be allowed near you again.”
The two of them practically competed to show me they were on my side now.
