His Love Is Not Visible Chapter 08

Her tone was so natural, as if she were the one who was supposed to be there.

I had planned to stop by the hospital to see Garrett before heading to the office.

Now, I just handed her the duffel bag.

“Thanks, then.”

Vanessa smiled, offering no explanation for how she knew our address.

I drove to the office.

Dana was in a towering rage. We worked until dawn before we finally fixed the data.

One of my coworkers yawned. “I swear, I’m going to go back to Iowa and help my grandparents grow corn. At least corn doesn’t call me in the middle of the night to work overtime.”

Everyone laughed, and the tension in the conference room finally broke.

Someone said, “Thank God we’re off tomorrow. If this happens again, I’ll probably just check myself into the ER.”

“I’m out. I’m going home to sleep for ten hours.”

I was so tired I could barely keep my eyes open.

When I got home, I collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep almost instantly.

I completely forgot that Garrett was still in the hospital.

In the afternoon, voices from the living room woke me up.

I walked out in my pajamas, my hair a mess.
