He Humiliated Me Until He Learned Who My Father Was Chapter 07

The Richest Man’s Daughter

“Alexander Sinclair.”

The moment I say my father’s name, Victoria goes completely still.

Richard’s expression changes a second later.

Ethan just looks confused.

Vanessa laughs.

“Okay? Are we supposed to know who that is?”

One of the senior executives turns toward her.

“You’re joking.”

She frowns.

He looks at me, then back at Vanessa.

“Alexander Sinclair is the richest man in the country.”

Vanessa’s smile disappears.

Ethan stares at me.

“Your father is… Alexander Sinclair?”

“Yes.”

“But you told me your father was in business.”

“He is.”

“You never told me he was a billionaire.”

“I never told you he wasn’t.”

Someone at the table lets out a stunned laugh.

“Wait. We spent half the night saying she was dating Ethan for money?”

No one answers.

They don’t need to.

Ethan earns a fraction of what I do.

And what I earn has never depended on my father.

I built Sinclair & Blake with Adrian from the ground up.

“No. She’s lying. Her mother was a mistress. Everyone knows that,” Vanessa says.

Victoria looks at her as if she’s lost her mind.

“Alexander Sinclair has been married to Avery’s mother for more than thirty years.”

So even that story had been hers.

Another lie gone.

Then Ethan suddenly looks at me differently.

“My promotion. That recruiter who called me last year…”

“You earned your promotion.”

“But you introduced me to Henderson.”

“I made an introduction. You did the work.”

“And when my dad needed that specialist…”

“All this time…” His voice drops. “You were helping me?”

“I helped.”

I can see him rebuilding the last three years in his head.

All the problems that somehow became easier.

I never bought his career.

I never wanted to.

I only helped when I could.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” he whispers.

“Because I wanted one person in my life to love Avery, not the Sinclair name.”

I look at him.

“I guess Avery was never enough for you.”

Vanessa suddenly thrusts her phone forward.

“None of this changes what she did!”

Everyone turns.

Her finger lands on the photograph again.

The same ugly “before” picture she’d used to humiliate me.

“Rich girls get plastic surgery too.”

Ethan looks at the screen.

For one horrifying second, I see hope in his face.

A way to make what he did less unforgivable.

He turns to me.

“I was wrong about some things. But if you really hid this from me—”

Even now, he needs part of this to be my fault.

I turn to my colleague.

“Show them.”
