My Racer Chose Her So I Canceled Our Wedding Chapter 07

He Came Looking for Me

The moment he heard where I was, his expression changed.

He immediately had his former co-driver escorted out and called the Rally Championship organizers.

“Whatever punishment she deserves, give it to her. I won’t interfere.”

Then he looked at himself in the mirror.

Weeks of drinking and sleepless nights had left him looking exhausted.

He called a stylist.

“Fix my hair. Find me a suit.”

After a pause, he added quietly,

“Something she’d like.”

Once he was cleaned up, he drove to the racing club and had his rally car detailed.

Then he placed a huge bouquet of roses on the passenger seat.

The seat I had once begged to sit in.

He got behind the wheel.

“Wait for me.”

Across the city, I was having dinner with one of my studio’s biggest clients.

I set down my fork and confirmed the terms.

“Thirty percent upfront. The remaining balance is due when the suit is finished.”

The man across from me smiled.

“You know I’m not going to disappear without paying.”

He had become a regular client since my studio opened. By then, I had started to suspect he had another reason for placing so many orders.

“If you’d consider going out with me,” he added, “I’d happily pay a much bigger deposit.”

“Can we keep this meeting about the suit?”

He laughed.

What made the situation even stranger was that we had known each other in high school.

He had asked me out back then too.

Apparently, some people were unusually persistent.

When dinner ended, I was about to call a car when his Koenigsegg pulled up beside me.

“Get in. I’ll drive you back.”

I accepted the ride.

When we reached my studio, I turned toward him.

“Do you want to come upstairs for—”

“Sure.”

I stared at him.

He grinned.

“I’ll park first.”

His car disappeared into the nearby garage.

I had just turned toward the studio entrance when someone called my name.

When I turned around, I saw the man I had left behind.

He stood beside his rally car holding a bouquet of roses.

The passenger window was down.

For years, I had wanted that seat more than I could explain.

Now I looked at it and felt nothing.

“What are you doing here?”

His eyes were bloodshot despite the effort he had clearly made to look presentable.

“I finally found you.”

His voice was hoarse.

“Come home with me.”

I said nothing.

“I know the truth now. Sienna tested positive. Someone else reported her, and she let everyone blame you. I gave everything I found to the organizers.”

“My investigator already found the evidence.”

He stared at me.

“So what exactly do you think this changes?”

A moment later, an arm settled casually across my shoulders.

My client had returned from parking.

He looked from me to the man standing in front of us.

“Who’s this?”
