His Wedding My Exit Chapter 07

His Wedding My Exit Chapter 07

After landing in Dallas, I was so slammed I barely had a spare moment to nurse the heartbreak.

I had meetings the day I arrived. I was out on sites the second day. On the third, I worked through the plans with the suppliers until dawn. In the past, if Hayden went three hours without answering my messages, I couldn’t stop myself from checking my phone.

Now, even if no one reached me for a whole day, half the time I forgot to look. A week later, Robin called me.

“Freya, Hayden came by the company today.”

“Yeah.”

“He said he’s willing to sign new contracts under his own name, and he’ll pay all the penalty fees. He wants us to find a new hotel.”

“That’s his business.”

Robin hesitated. “He still seems to think that as long as the wedding is put back together, you’ll come back.” I let out a short laugh.

Some people’s egos really are hard to dent. A few days later, a message came in from an unknown number.

“This is Adele.”

I didn’t reply.

She sent another.

“Let’s talk.”

I answered flatly: “We have nothing to talk about.”

But she called anyway.

I picked up.

Adele spoke first. “Freya, I didn’t think you two would actually break up.”

Adele spoke first. “Freya, I didn’t think you two would actually break up.”

“Yeah.”

“Is it because of me?”

I laughed a little. “You’re not that important.” The line went quiet on the other end.

A few seconds later, she suddenly laughed.

“Have you always felt like I deliberately brought up those things from the past in front of you?”

“I didn’t feel like it.”

“You did.” This time, she didn’t deny it.

“Fine, then I admit it.” I didn’t speak.

Adele fell silent a moment. “But I wasn’t trying to steal Hayden.”

“I know.”
