Bound To The Wrong Mafia Boss Loved By The Right Golden Boy Chapter 06
The Freedom
Dominic’s chest went tight. He fumbled the box out, flipped it open.
Where the marriage contract should have been, there was something else entirely. The original agreement his father signed when he first entered the Sinclair household as a soldier and contracted fiancé.
“You’ve always wanted to be with my sister, haven’t you?” I stood behind Kieran, my back already turned to him. “You’re free now.”
Dominic might have dreamed of this moment for years.
But now that the paper was actually in his hands, all he felt was a hollow ache in his chest.
He watched me walk toward the Ashford car. His body moved forward on instinct.
Kieran raised a hand and blocked his path. “Sorry. She’s my fiancée now. If you have something to say, Don Graves, you can say it to me.”
He called him Don Graves. Directly.
The two men locked eyes. Kieran smiled, knowing and calm.
He’d known all along. Dominic’s little game of playing bodyguard.
I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly at myself.
What a joke. In my past life, it cost me my life to learn the truth about him.
I got in the car without looking back.
…
I had no expectations for this marriage. I just went through the motions.
On our wedding night, I sat on the edge of the bed, turning a switchblade over in my hands.
Everyone said Kieran Ashford went violent and unpredictable after he lost his manhood. That he’d killed people in his rages.
That day at the dock, I hadn’t sensed anything wrong with him. But a psycho’s behavior can’t be predicted.
I stared at the blade.
I made my choice. Either I die here, or the Ashford empire becomes my stepping stone.
Love? I wasn’t counting on it.
“Planning to bring that to bed with your husband?”
Kieran leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed. Nothing but a towel around his waist.
I turned my head.
The first thing my eyes landed on was…
The obvious bulge beneath that towel.
I blinked.
Wait. Wasn’t he supposed to be dickless?
Unless… it was fake?
“It’s real.” He was grinning.
Caught staring. I yanked my gaze away.
He shrugged, unbothered. “I spread that rumor myself. Too many people trying to get close, trying to set up marriages. A dickless psychopath persona saves me a lot of trouble.”
“Oh…” I tried very hard not to look at his hardware.
“Relax.” He leaned down toward me. “You can trust my ability to serve you.”
My face burned.
I had planned for everything. I’d even prepared a contingency for the day he snapped and I’d have to fight him to the death.
But now that he was sane, healthy, fully intact, and absolutely not dickless, I didn’t know how to react.
“I… I…”
“Nervous?” He pulled me gently into his arms, pressed certain points along my spine until my body softened. He laid me down slowly. “Don’t be scared…”
He kissed my lips. “I’ve waited a decade for tonight. I won’t hurt you.”
“A decade?”
“Yes.”
He kissed my face, my neck, his breath hot but controlled. “That Southern Gala, years ago. One look at you and I was gone. But all you ever saw was your bodyguard.”
He laughed softly against my skin. “Silly girl. He fooled you for years, and you never once looked my way. If you’d paid just a little more attention, you would’ve seen me watching you the whole time. You would’ve known I was better for you than he ever was.”
I went still.
My mailbox. Those gifts that kept appearing. Jewelry, trinkets, things I’d mentioned wanting just the day before.
I always thought they were from Dominic.
They were never from Dominic.
Every time my heart raced over those little surprises, it was racing for the wrong man?
And then, the memories from my past life flooded in.
During those years I was broke, singing at bars, scraping together money for Dominic’s treatments, anonymous deposits kept showing up in my account.
I never found out who sent them before I died.
His arms tightened around me. And strangely, my body relaxed even more.
“I tried for ten years. Never got you to notice me. I figured once you married him, I’d leave the country and move on.” His voice dropped lower with every word. “I never imagined you’d choose me. Even now, I’m terrified this is just you trying to spite him. You don’t know what these past few days have been like, waiting for you…”
Something moved me.
I cupped his face in my hands. “Kieran. I’m your wife. Don’t be afraid.”
His body went rigid.
Then his kiss came crashing down, hotter than before.
That night, he showed me a world I’d never known.
One I could get lost in.
